Post: Investing in the United Kingdom

Hey everyone,

I am an American citizen currently living and working the United Kingdom in the Cambrideshire area. I did one deal in the states last year with my dad and I am interesting in learning about how the real estate market works here in the United Kingdom. Are there any resources on this forum for investing in foreign countries or possible a local investors meetup here in the U.K.

Thank you,

Josh

So I just saw the post about profile pictures and will upload one shortly! I joined a while ago but never went anywhere with the site.

My name's Josh and I'm a Michigan native currently living and working in the United Kingdom. I did one deal last year. I bought my dad's landlord's house which is 2 houses on one lot for a pretty good price and it cash flows nicely. I basically figured I could reduce my dad's rent (he pays 45% less) and pay the overwhelming majority of the costs by renting out the other unit. So it's a win/win for everybody.

That being said we're ready to do some more deals. Right now we're looking at land lots (I am going to make another post on another forum), but I've always been interested in multi-family, and wouldn't mind doing a deal here in the U.K. (Peterborough) as the city is growing because all the Londoners are moving here.

Anyway I look forward to being more active here and getting to know the forums and the investors on it.

Best wishes,

Josh
