Post: Looking for Lawyer in Newberg Oregon area

Hello BP community,

Without going into great detail.  I feel like it would be a good idea for me to speak with a lawyer to get some advise on tenant roommate’s having issues with each other.  Are there any good resources in the Newberg Oregon area that someone could refer me to?

Thank you all in advance,

-Josh

Hello everyone,

I'm bumping this thread and asking another related question as the situation has developed, now involving an animal.

From what I have been told by the tenant couple, the 3rd tenants pet is either inured or just plain getting old and its health has deteriorated quickly in the last short period(month or 2).  It sounds like the pet is being kept in the 3rd tenants room but is quite smelly and causing issues for the couple so they have approached the 3rd tenant about the situation and ultimately threatened him with calling the police to help deal with the pet.

Does the previous advise hold true?  Should I be staying out of this situation as well?  I've not been in the apartment in the last couple of months, however the last time I visited it, the apartment was not overly dirty or unlivable and the last time I saw the pet, he was fine, so it has been a short period in development.  Should I suggest to the couple to stay the course and allow them to involve law enforcement to assist with the care of the pet?

Thank you again in advance for any advice you all provide, it is very valuable!

-Josh

Hello all!

I've got a situation that I can't find on the Forum and was hoping to get some feedback from professionals out there.  One tenant and his girlfriend reached out to me about their roommate (all have been renting from me for quite some time without issue) and asked if there was a way to basically kick the 3rd roommate out.  He's become lazy and doesn't really contribute to keeping the place clean and the tenant and his gf are trying to keep a nice house.  I'm definitely ok with the couple staying and the other roommate moving on but not sure if it is my place to get involved, even though they asked me.  The suggestion that they gave was to give them a 90 day notice to vacate then re-lease the unit to just the two of them.  Any thoughts here?  I'm in Newberg, Oregon, just FYI so landlord/tenant laws, though not as intense as Portland, are definitely Tenant favored.

Thank you in advance for any commentary you can/are willing to provide!

@Grant Schroeder and @Joseph Crunkilton I'm in Newberg as well! My wife and I own a duplex which we house hack over near Bi-Mart. Would love to get in on the investment chats. We've saved just about enough to get a SF home for us so we can fully rent the duplex. Goal would be to live in flip the new home and the duplex will just about pay for the new SFH mortgage once fully rented.

@Sam Jurgenson, I'm glad to hear you're excited about real estate investing and are in the house hacker mindset!  As @Chace Fraser mentioned, we are having a BP Money meetup and I personally am a house hacker myself!  My wife and I own a duplex and rent one of the units out, which pays our mortgage.  Since we've lived in one side we've been remodeling and adding value to the unit we're in and in the near future will do a switch and begin doing work on the other side as well.  As for purchasing and house hacking info it looks like you've got lots of good info, but I'd love to share my story with you at the meetup on the 15th!  Finally, I'd just like to leave you with this, meet lots of people, do some informational interviews with real estate pro's (realtors, loan officers, etc) figure out your boundaries and exactly what you want, identify and work with people that align with those boundaries and desires, then go for it!

Hello BP Money Listeners,

If you're like me you listen to the BP Money Podcast on a weekly basis and think it's awesome!  The one thing that I think could add to it's value is a bunch of us getting together and supporting each other in our money journeys.  So I wanted to put a meetup together for those of us who are working through the financial independence steps.   Whether you're just starting your money journey, you've in the middle of paying off debt or are completely on FIRE, come join us to support each other!

Perhaps, if we work through this phase of our lives together we can work on some future Real Estate Deals together as well!

Topics to discuss will be lessons learned from the November 12th Podcast as well as your own personal stories of money successes/challenges.  Remember we're here to share and support!

Looking forward to meeting you!

The meeting will be held at Rontoms, here is a google maps link to the location:
