Easiest way would probably be to just google reia then your area. Most have a website that you can check out for events

Welcome to the Bigger Pockets community! You've come to the right place if your looking for insight. That being said, I'm new to the game as well and slowly but surely coming close to buying my first property. I am looking at a quad (4 units) because I can get the FHA loan for just under 3% down and hopefully have the tenants paying my mortgage and expenses for me. I believe there is a post on the site about the five books every real estate investor should read. I bought all five and they increased my knowledge and confidence 10 fold. I am currently working on a business plan and model to present to them when they return for the winter. @Paul Timmins I am planning on having a meeting with a particular realtor very soon that comes highly recommended from a friend but if I don't like what I hear at the meeting I may take you up on that offer.

Hello everybody,

My name is Josh Elmer and I currently reside in southwest Florida, in the Ft. Myers area. I am a total newbie when it comes to real estate investing and I'm just trying to find my way. I have a degree in construction management and have been managing a large private estate for the last six years. I'm ready for a change and have always liked the idea of rehabbing. I've yet to purchase a property but I'm working towards it and hope to make the plunge within 6 months. My short term goals are to just get started and own my first property. Long term would be to own around 20-30 units hopefully creating a good passive income for myself. Any advice for an aspiring investor would be sincerely appreciated. I look forward to meeting as many of you as is possible and keeping the community up to date on my progress.
