@Lane Chomko thanks for the tips. I've never spoken to anyone personally on Airbnb that's located in Big Bear, so not sure how the numbers work out. The only experience I have is, it's difficult to book anything during the winter months when we try to visit. I will definitely do my research before buying anything.

@Lane Chomko I haven't ran any numbers yet. I am still in the idea phase of it all but definitely want to do something in the future. Do you recommend a calculator to use? I know BP has a calculator on their website.

@Joe Miller makes sense the first would be the hardest as I will be figuring out how to work the platform and handle visitors. I believe I could handle it, my biggest fear is starting and thinking I'm over my head with it.

@Ryan Moyer I haven't ran the numbers yet. Currently thinking about it right now and trying to get a game plan. Definitely will put aside for reserves and try to purchase another rental to generate more cashflow.

@Dan Heuschele you bring up a good point about another COVID like event. It would be smart to have a good amount in reserves for another situation like this. What do you think would be sufficient? 3mos?6mos?

@Nathan G. Thank you, good tips!! I will definitely ensure to have reserves in the case it doesn't rent for an extended period time during slow seasons.

@Jeff Langley makes sense. I think the half and half could be our best strategy. Either put half towards the mortgage or like you said, save up for an emergency. Perhaps an emergency or any maintenance in the property. Thanks

@Bruce Woodruff yeah that makes sense! Not sure if we will have multiple STR but definitely one in Big Bear as we love the area and typically stay at an Airbnb ourselves when we visit.

@Bruce Woodruff thank you! I was thinking saving for another down payment but my wife felt more comfortable doing half and half. I've read a lot of other says do whatever you feel more comfortable. Appreciate your opinion!
