@Wyatt Postal

I live in the North Bay too. I've scraped the area and there just aren't any really good deals left around here. Maybe if you have millions, or can buy a piece of the burned out areas to rebuild on... But I'm super opposed to disaster capitalism AND the fires are common and they happen on the same acreage every. Single. Time. But I digress.

Also 15k won't take you very far labor wise right now. Everybody is super booked up and charging astronomical rates...because they can :-/

The major thing you have going for you is a big (by comparison) Bay Area income. That money goes farther in the Midwest.

Good luck. Ping me if you want to chat more.

I think it's a fabulous idea.  Right now they're only investing in CA properties, but can't wait till they grow big enough to go elsewhere.

From the reading that I've done, sometimes you can get a raw deal doing shared equity agreements.  Like they want to buy their equity with upside already calculated in etc... NerdWallet has a good article about them.

As with everything, do your homework.  I'm super excited to see how blockchain upsets the real estate biz.  SO many people taking their small chunks just for XYZ.  Very replaceable by smart contract.
