Hi, I am trying to learn about tax lien sales in Louisiana.

As I understand, the bidder with the lowest % of willing to own wins the auction.

As I understand it, if you win, you pay the price, say $500. Then, they would pay you back the $500 + 5% penalty + 1% interest per month. However, if you win, you must pay the property taxes going forward until it is repaid.

Does the owner repay you any of the additional property taxes you paid in excess of the original amount, $500?

Any help is much appreciated.

@jessica manzella I’d like to go to the session on August 9 and would like to apply the $20 from the session two weeks ago towards membership. What’s the best way to register as a member and apply that $20 from paying as a guest?

Hey Jessica, I was trying to PM you but it wouldn’t allow. Also, I emailed via the website. I’m not a member of the NOREIA but am interested in joining with a friend next year once we save some cash. Would we be able to join this meetup next Thursday just to see what it’s like? - Joe P

Mike Wood Braden Smith Kimberly Jones I really appreciate the advice. I grew up in the New Orleans area and have family in the construction business. They would be helping with coordinating the work among subs. It definitely seems like it's a really interesting time of what's going On in NOLA. In general, do you see NOLA and southern Louisiana in general attracting more business and people to live there now and over the next few years ? I moved to Nashville right before Katrina and have lived in Southern California for the past few years. NOLA does seem to be a very different unique city. I'm just curious what's creating jobs for people to migrate back in to the area now and over the next decade.

Hi everyone, I'm new to REI and still learning a lot. I live in Southern California but am looking to invest in New Orleans. I am looking for an agent in the New Orleans area that is familiar with flipping homes. If you know anyone you think would be willing to work with an out of state investor, please share . I would really appreciate any help.
Jo-Ann Lapin Hi Jo-Ann, I am really looking anywhere near Orange County or in the Greater New Orleans area.
Joe Homs - I would love to meet up for coffee before. I clicked and looked at the meet up but didn't see a get together for the next two months. Do you know the next date everyone is meeting?
Hi everyone, Brand new to the world of REI. Really looking forward to learning a lot about it and what opportunities are out there. I live in Orange County, CA but have family and travel to New Orleans a lot. I would appreciate any help and guidance as I learn about this world. -Joe P
