@Twana Rasoul, hello was reading the forum and saw you are in beautiful San Diego. Im im suburban Chicago and am a new investor reading, listening and saving. My mother in law is there in San Diego, Sherman Heights neigborhood. I am actually working on providing her info on turning part of her property into Airbnb to help her with extra income. I personally am planning on doing a 3 unit house hack to boost my savings. Well just reaching out to you and itroducing myself. If theres anything I can help you out with here in the midwest, dont hesitate to ask. Take care.

@David Oldenburg Great story and way to show people how the process looks. I know I would have loved to be there!

@Sam Shueh Do you know if a regular home equity loan will require the same or will it vary by lender?

@Walter Aaron Poling Thanks Aaron, I am concerned that both loans might be very super close to the rent amount. I am also thinking of doing the HELOC, use some of that for a down payment on a 3-4 unit and stay in my home.

Hello BP members, I want to run this by everyone to get opinions and advice. I want to eventually rent out my SFR but need to make some repairs. Once I rent it out, I plan to buy a 3-4 unit and house hack. Since I do need to make repairs to my primary and have about 30k in equity, I'm not sure where to look to for funding the necessary repairs. Should I get a HELOC, VA rehab loan, or any other financial products that others have experienced with? Thanks

Thanks Ashish! I will look them over and reach out to you if any questiona

@Omar Khan Thanks, if the right multi family in the right area comes up like a 3bed 2 bath for our unit, I may just jump on it if the numbers are right. For me personally, I think its the easiest way to ramp up my savings towards a new property. But Im not saying I wont consider an FHA/VA loan and put the 3.5 - 5% to get a deal.
