Hey! I’m glad that you’re considering eXp realty as a broker to hang your license with! As for PM I know eXp doesn’t do PMs unless you’re a broker yourself. But if you’re a PM already, working with another company as an employee you can continue doing that. Hopefully I helped answer your question on that.

 Kobe,

Sounds like you're saying that they do not have a non-compete then? I definitely want to find a company to do sales part-time with while I do PM full-time so eXp would be a big consideration.

 David,

Thank you for checking for me! I was not planning on doing PM with eXp because I did not see any notice of it on their website or any search i've done. I was going to find a locally owned and operated company to learn from.

Hello fellow BP bloggers,

Brief background:

I am relatively new to the real estate world, and have decided to dive head first not only with investing but also with changing my professional career.

I am still active duty military, and have the opportunity to do OJT for a few months before I get out. I have already started my pre-licensing course in NC and am formulating my plan to ETS.

I am leaning more towards property management, in fact I want to try and work for a PM full-time while I earn my full brokers license in NC (2 year requirement).

My end-state is to start my own PM company to manage my own investments and other investors portfolios in my area.

So now to my question(s):

In regards to eXp Realy, do they have a non-compete or anything in their agent agreement that would prevent me from doing PM while attempting to work as an agent in the evenings/weekends? Their business model seems attractively suited for a smaller operation that wants to work part-time while working other fields in real estate.

Additionally, does anyone with more experience than myself "probably 90% of bloggers on here", have any recommendations or nuggets of wisdom towards trying to do something like this part-time beyond which specific company I try to work under?

Lastly, are there any other companies out there that would be good to look into in order to try and do sales part-time?

Thank you all in advance for any assistance!

Yes there are in fact many pyramid schemes that are publicly traded.

I will have to disagree with this statement. Here is the actual definition of a pyramid scheme:
https://www.investopedia.com/t...

eXp and none of the companies listed in this statement operate a ”pyramid scheme” and those calling eXp the same do not understand the difference between a pyramid scheme and a valid and legal means to market their product or service.

eXp offers agents the ability to build a team where they share in the revenues produced by that agent under them. They do not place money in nor does the recruited agent. All agents must complete real estate services to get paid. Anyone stating otherwise has no clue what they are talking about.

That said, I do find it annoying and obnoxious how many eXp agents try to sell others onto their team. In fact, in many cases, these agents are violating their terms of service with eXp and could be let go from eXp.

Much of the negative comments here are simply misinformed or confused individuals not having all the facts. That is just as obnoxious as the heavy recruiters who consistently violate the forum rules here at BP.

We moved over to eXp not to recruit but for many other reasons and mostly for the stock and ability to keep almost 100% of our commissions through doing enough deals and capping. You won’t find me pitching or recruiting here though so my comments above are not bias at all. I think all the agents at eXp doing things wrong as far as recruiting is concerned should be horse whipped or removed from eXp as they produce a negative image to eXp that is entirely false.

As a moderator here as well, I will warn any and all eXp agents, you are NOT allowed to solicit or promote eXp inside the BP forums unless a you make a post in the marketplace forum. Violators will be dealt with. If you see posts of eXp agents soliciting inside the forums, please do report that post so the moderator team can deal with them. Thank you.

Well investopedia isnt really an actual definition, but thats kind of beside the point. I think most people would describe multilevel marketing companies as pyramid schemes. That doesn't make them illegal, but that is their business model.  The person prior to me said the SEC doesnt let pyramid schemes trade on the stock exchange floor, and there are in fact many multilevel marketing businesses that do so.

I think the confusion here is that while a Ponzi scheme is illegal, and is a type of pyramid scheme, not all pyramid schemes are ponzi schemes, nor are all pyramid schemes illegal.

Lol. In the US, all pyramid schemes are illegal and MLM is NOT a pyramid scheme, it is a marketing strategy which is 100% legal. I still disagree that the SEC allows companies using a pyramid scheme on the stock market, and while the companies you listed all use MLM to sell their products or services, none of them are pyramid schemes. You or I may not like or agree with how they do their business model, but that does not make it illegal.

I am glad someone else is correcting the wrong use of Pyramid Scheme in relation to MLMs. I am not associated with eXp or any other MLM...yet, but i do believe as the US moves to more entrepreneurial business and less brick and mortar that the MLM structure will become the new norm just like department stores did years ago. I am observing and carefully deciding on an MLM because you can't just do them all!

Great summary of all of your actions. I’m late to the game, but what you have already done is exactly what I want to start accomplishing as I transition out of the military. Great post.
