Welcome, Jacob. I'm new here as well. Have you listened to the BP Podcast? I was initially turned on to BP through listening to the podcast while fighting Houston traffic every day... was a great way to pass the time and learn some good stuff.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. This place really seems to be a wealth of knowledge as well as all-encompassing viewpoints. I look forward to interacting individually and on forums here.

Any suggestions around the best literature/sites to develop a keen eye for rehabbing estimates?

Welcome, Gopal. I'm Jordan...Newbie here in Houston as well. I will keep an eye and ear open for multi-family props, are you interested in keeping it close to Friendswood/League City or are you looking to diversify into other areas of the Houston metro market?

Hello fellow BP members. My name is Jordan Decuir and I am a newbie from the Houston area, Katy specifically. I decided to join BP because of the awesome Bigger Pockets podcast that I encountered a few weeks ago on my iPhone and can't seem to get enough of.

A bit about myself: I am a former Corporate Financial Analyst jumping head-first into the Real Estate world for the opportunity and challenge that it brings. I will be taking the National and Texas state real estate licensing courses to begin my new endeavor the first week of September 2013, and will begin practicing as a licensed agent thereafter. I have no real estate investing experience but I do have a finance background and have been investing my own funds for nearly a decade now, via individual brokerage accounts, 401k's, IRA's, yadda, yadda, yadda...and I'm ready to begin the foray into real-estate investing. From a high-level, I want to build a portfolio of rental properties consisting of single-family and multi-family properties as I progress.

I joined BP for the great information available and to get involved heavily in the community and build my network. Thanks for reading and I look forward to connecting with the BP community and learning some great stuff!
