@Brendan Markle Thanks! Yeah, I imagine actually collecting that income is a great feeling. Having only actively worked for a paycheck, I definitely look forward to having money coming in more passively every month.

I definitely have lots of questions, and I'm starting to make a plan, so I'll probably take you up on that offer very soon; thanks for the offer!

@Jared Franklin Yes definitely, the amount of great info I've found on BP so far is overwhelming!

That's awesome! I love seeing before and after pictures of places that have been renovated. It's amazing how much a property can change! I think I'd like to get into rehabbing one day, but I want to tackle home ownership and rental basics first.

I've started analyzing hackable houses in a couple neighborhoods/towns I'm interested in on sites like Trulia and Zillow, but I haven't started reaching out to real estate agents yet. I want to do a little more digging on finding a good one (as well as whether I need other professionals like a CPA yet), but I plan on taking the leap soon, hopefully within the next few days.

Hi everyone! I've been reading everything I can on BP the last few weeks and finally decided I should introduce myself. I'm a software engineer in Philadelphia looking to get started in real estate investing, particularly buy/hold rental properties. I'm thinking of starting out with a house hack in the western suburbs of Philly but I'm pretty open minded right now. I'm trying to absorb as much information and make as many contacts as I can. As a software engineer, I'm pretty computer savvy so let me know if you ever have any questions in that department. I'd love to connect with you, especially if you're in the Philly area!

As a little ice breaker: what's your favorite part of real estate investing and/or the deal you're most proud of?
