@Denise Evans thank you. Been busy going through boxes of paperwork and I found a bill of sales showing she bought the land. So I have that and her property tax receipts. My question is do you think I will have any issues getting a deed for the property. And will I have to go through probate to have me recognized as the owner.

@Tai Bhattad thank you. I can't find the tax certificate and with me only having the receipts from the paid taxes I don't know if it will be enough to get a title for that property.

My mom purchased a property from a tax sale over 10 years ago before in Alabama and deeded her properties to me before she passed away recently. I just found out that her property from the tax sale was never recorded and she never had a deed in her name. Also she has been paying the taxes on the property since she purchased it and tax records shows that she has been paying the property taxes but it also shows the original owner's name on the taxes also. Was my mom the legal owner when she deeded the property to me?
