Thank you for your reply Madeline. That was been my plan now for a while now. Find a tenant, run a credit check, call references, and make sure the lease and expectations are clear. Did you just run a regular ad on craiglsit or did you make something fancy? Do you have any tips for attracting good tenants on Craigslist? Thanks again for your help!

I can also do that, just rent it out month to month and see how that plays out. I didn't think of that. Thank you

Thank you for your response Ryan, great advice and def something to consider. That was also one of the downsides I saw. I would do my best to screen the tenant and make sure I choose the best one. The guide Bigger Pockets has for tenant screening is a huge help.

I would like to receive some advice on renting to a tenant on the same floor that I live on. I currently have a multi-family house and would like to rent the other room I have on my floor. We would be ultimately be roommates, and I was wondering if anyone else had an previous experience with this.
