I currently receive a homestead exemption on my home. We will be renting this residence starting January 1st. Am I able to retain this exemption on a rental? My understanding is no. However I’ve also read that you get the exemption if it’s your primary residence on the 1st of the year. Technically I’d be cutting it close to keep the exemption for one additional year. Trying to do the right thing here, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John
