@Alora Glaze Gotta wear the official SD "cold weather" uniform of a jacket with shorts and flip-flops! Good tip about fb, I had heard that mentioned on the podcast a couple times but I have been off FB for years, so I keep forgetting. I might need to make some kind of 'business' profile so I can take advantage of these groups.

Thanks for the welcome @Alora Glaze! I actually really like the San Marcos area, lot of great places for a weekend hike. Not sure how long ago you moved away but according to my wife it's changed a lot since she was growing up.

As far as midwest investing, we are definitely open to all possibilities but are currently trying to limit focus for our first investment (and not doing a great job considering we're still spread out over 3 states :D ). Are you primarily Indiana focused or do you work in other states as well?

@David Pere Thanks for the recommendation, I actually had been talking to @Donald E Appleberry from another thread and have already connected! :) But no, I am unfortunately not military, moved here to Oceanside to be closer to my wife's family, although her father is retired military. What types of properties are you invested in (or looking for) out of state, and what state(s) do you invest in?

@Donald E Appleberry Could I get details about that meetup as well? I checked under the Real Estate Events and Happenings and don't see it listed. And just wanted to confirm it's not limited to VA investors correct?

My name is John Suarez and my wife and I are newbie investors from Oceanside, CA (North County San Diego). We are currently looking into out of state rental investment opportunities for our first deal (SFR, small multi-family). Currently we're looking at the Tulsa, OK area but have been also checking into Henderson, NV and areas outside Dallas county TX, and of course still holding on to the dream that we'll uncover a deal locally here in North County :D

Interested in talking with anyone with tips/knowledge, as well as other newbies just to talk about learning experiences, starting tactics, etc.
