Hi Ade, welcome to Biggerpockets! It has been a while since your initial post, and we hope you have been successful with your first investment in Boston!

Like you, my girlfriend and I are looking to start in the Boston area - however, we cannot get over how expensive properties seem to be close to the city. This is why we are now considering purchasing property in one of the towns around Boston (ca. 1 hour drive - for example, Lowell), where purchase prices seem more affordable. Wondering if anyone has any experience in that market?

@Brooke and Ben: thanks for the tip about the MassHousing loans, it's an option that is definitely worth looking into!

Thanks,

John and Martina
