We have similar rules in Quebec, Canada. Evictions are long and rent can't be raised easily. I'm looking to invest in NY state but everything I read since last year reminds me of what's happening here and it is not landlord friendly at all. Everyone should vote and work on bringing things back to equilibrium. Other wise buying A buildings in A neighborhood will be the only way to survive.

@Michael Lyons Search the web using keywords foreign financing or loan or mortgage, outside, international, US loan for canadian or where you're from etc.

This web site may help you. They finance canadian everywhere in the usa : http://www.expresscapitalmtg.com/ They may help you or tell you where to look.

Many won't manage in this area. So finding 7-9% is probably harder. 10 is indeed probably standard.

I agree with most of you. Choose your street and you'll be fine. Choose the wrong street and you'll have a hard time. If Fred is managing over there he probably knows what to expect and where. Good money can be made in risky area if you buy smart. Good luck.

Hi, I'm from QC too and It seems that most of it applies to us but not everything. Since I read and listen to everything from the US and it seems to me that US investing is usually more advantageous, I decided to invest over there. Depending on your strategy, CAN could be good too. Have fun.

Hi Alex, I'm starting to invest in Albany too. Great to see more people from BP in that market. I think that $100/unit in Albany is really achievable. See you around!

I totally agree with Hai Loc. Start investing in USA asap tou won't regret. Set up you things and go for it!

@Colleen F. I totally agree and this is probably what should be done 99%of the time.
