As you can see in my profile, I am an attorney based in Columbus, OH. I joined Bigger Pockets because I am personally interested in real estate investing, and I also want to learn how I can better serve the needs of my real estate investor clients. From your experiences, what makes or breaks your relationship with a lawyer?

@Ryan Morlino I am a collections attorney, and our firm often garnishes wages and bank accounts in an attempt to collect on judgments that have not yet been paid. Business owners who owe money on judgments regularly tell me that they have personal and business funds co-mingled in their personal bank accounts. However, most often, when we garnish funds that are in personal accounts, funds that came from a business are not exempt. I am not your attorney, and I do not know the law in your jurisdiction, but if your goal is to maximize the protection of the LLC, it may be wise to keep business and personal money separate.

@Susan M. I would recommend She Has a Name Cleaning, a company that provides employment to survivors of human trafficking. I can get you their contact info if you're interested. It may be more expensive than you expect though.

Hi Steven, if you are still looking, the National Creditors Bar Association (NARCA) has a law firm directory search. They also have a buyer’s guide that lets you search by the specific service you need.

I know I am late to this, but if you are still looking, the National Creditors Bar Association (NARCA) has a law firm directory search. They also have a buyer’s guide that lets you search by the specific service you need.

Good afternoon everyone! I am new to the forums, though I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcasts for several months now. Professionally, I am a collections attorney. Personally, I love real estate, and I find myself thinking about how I could profitably structure deals all the time. I bought my first house earlier this year, and I currently live there with my wife. We plan to move in about 2 years and keep it as a rental. I always have new ideas, but right now I am particularly interested in using LLCs and owner financing to purchase properties that generate monthly income. Let me know if you want to chat or meet up for lunch!
