I own two houses that my grandmother gave me. They are both very old 1960's, and need a lot of work. I was thinking of taking a loan out on the equity of one house to fund a tear down of the old house and possibly putting a new manufactured home on the property. Here's where I get stuck, do I just rent that out after I try to refinance the loan or should I sell outright? How do I pay back the loan of repairs if I don't sell outright?

Does anyone have any recommendations for online real estate schools in California? I would take the courses at my local college but they discontinued the real estate program and I would really like to go for my license. I guess it doesn't have to be online courses, so any recommendations would help a lot. Thanks!

Hello everyone! My name is John Brooks and I live in a small town called Red Bluff in California. I just recently found Bigger Pockets and I love it! Im really wanting to start investing in real estate but im not sure where to begin. I have started the ultimate guide to investing and have read some of the forums here. I'm also listening to Brandon Turners book 'The Book On Rental Property Investing' on audible. I'm thinking about trying my hand at house hacking a duplex for my first investment. I want to learn as much as I can before trying it out but I also want to get started. I will continue looking through the forums for insight and thanks in advance for everything!
