Good Morning Everyone,

Wondering if anyone has a good handyman contact in the Hampton roads area? I have a few rentals on the peninsula and am looking for someone that I can contact for the various maintenance issues that arise at houses. Does anyone have a go to guy for issues like cracked windows, interior door replacements, basic repairs etc?

Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide!!

Post: In Need of A Good CPA In the Hampton Roads Area (VA)

Hi Everyone,

I recently bought my first investment property and started an LLC to manage it. I plan on grabbing more properties in the near future and am in need of a CPA who is good with tax strategies related to real estate investing in the Hampton Roads area. I'm open to the Richmond area as well. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Joe Allen

Thanks for your response Jaysen. My main reasoning for the LLC is to be able to eventually have access to business loans to buy more real estate. And from what I've read, banks want to see that the business is seasoned before loaning any money so I figured it would be a start at least to get some activity on the business account (however small it is). I am also actively looking for another property and plan on managing that through the LLC as well. I was planning on financing through the LLC but was told by the lender that i've been in contact with that that would be difficult to do and that many of her clients finance the property in their name and manage it via LLCs. I was also planning on taking advantage of any tax deductions available but from what you're saying that wouldn't be available with an LLC? Does this seem like a sound strategy to get started or do you think i should consider a different route? Thanks again.

So i am looking to form an LLC soon to invest in rental properties. Based on the research I have been doing I have decided to start off buying properties in my name and starting a property management LLC to manage them. I am actively searching for my first deal but am also eager to create the LLC and get some activity going on my business account. So my question is, can I legally rent rooms in my personal residence using the LLC? I am already renting two rooms to family members anyway so what I want to do is create the LLC, draw up lease agreements for them and have that income recorded on my business account. Is this legal and if so does anyone else use this strategy? Would love to hear some insights from anyone with the knowledge and/or experience. Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide.
