Thanks for the information, fellas.  Much appreciated.  That basically confirms what I thought in terms of rules and regs, so thank you.  How do you know what areas are unincorporated parts of St Pete?  Does Tampa and surrounding areas have the same rules?

In terms of the lady spending all her time reporting violations... yikes.

She sounds truly awful and does not accurately represent the people of the Bay area.  Her middle name has the be "Karen".

"Price does this because of the affordable housing crisis. She said many of the homes in her area sit empty, waiting for tourists to rent them out, instead of being made available to those in need of housing locally."

There's over 2,000 MLS listings currently in Saint Petersburg. I think there's enough inventory available to make due.

"I feel like there's not much else I can do to impact housing like that, but this is one thing I can," she said. "Otherwise [those homes] would have sat empty most of the year as like a vacation rental. So I think that's like the biggest impact I as an individual could have."

Imagine thinking the biggest positive impact you could have on your community was narcing on people down the street for using their private property. A simple Google search revealed 5 homeless shelters and a children's cancer hospital in St Pete.

"Over the last few weeks, Price has been sharing her findings with city councilors. She said only one has responded to her emails."

I'm absolutely shocked they don't want to get daily emails from her.

The city just created two new positions for proactive enforcement of STRs and will be voting on enacting “super fines”, lol yes very ineffective work I’ve done.

Good luck with your loopholes!

I just saw that article as well... disappointing news..

I wonder if the unincorporated areas are still outside of that jurisdiction or if they will change the rules?

I live in St Petersburg, FL and trying to understand the rules, regulations and loopholes with AirBnb properties. I heard that STR's are banned in St Petersburg but you can only have 2 reservations per year under 30 days and the rest have to be over 30 days which is considered MTR. However, I see hundreds of properties listed on Airbnb that do not follow the rules. I believe both St Pete and Pinellas county have their own rules for Airbnb but not sure of the differences. Trying to understand the risks and implications of running an Airbnb here and if there are any loopholes to the policies. Any feedback or discussion is appreciated!
