@Azeez K.  I'll try my best to make it there. Thanks.

@Brandon Turner, @Dan Cotter@Dave Visaya - thanks for the warm welcome and information, I greatly appreciate it!

Thank you, Ivan, for the words and recommendation offers.  I will definitely hit you up when the time comes.

Nice to meet you Dmitriy, thanks.

Thanks Gage for the advice, much appreciated!

Hello, Zachary, nice to meet you!

Gage, yeah, Buckhead seems pretty nice and upscale, but I tend to migrate towards smaller communities with parks, arts, and young families.  But, obviously, that's a preference for myself, not necessarily for investing.  I have heard Grant Park was very nice, but haven't checked it out yet.  Thanks again for the info!

Hello Azeez, thanks for the information!  I will check all your links out.

I am personally staying in corporate housing in the Fourth Ward area, an area that looks to be improving, from my VERY immature real estate eyes!  I also enjoy strolling around the Cabbagetown and Little Five Points area.  The addition of the Atlanta Beltline seems like it could improve some areas around town as well.

There are SO many television and movie productions going on in Atlanta, you can simply drive downtown and see trailers and crew members all around.  I am not sure if there is a RE need for professionals, though.  Based on my experience, the production company would put crew and cast up in corporate apartments using companies like "Oakwood" or simply putting them up in hotel rooms.  I'm purely guessing, but there could be an uptick in TV and film people flocking to Atlanta because of the all the work it provides, and who might be looking for short term rental units to stay in.

A lot of my production work deals in neighborhoods with high crime rates, so at least I'm learning where NOT to purchase!

Azeez, do you see areas around town that seem to be improving and could provide investment opportunities?

Thank you very much, Paul, I very much appreciate the words of wisdom.  I will definitely take your advice to heart.

Thank you MicahElizabeth, and Jon for the responses.  I'm not quite ready yet to put myself in the ring, lots to learn and setup before that happens, but I am excited and motivated!

I would like to ask for any recommendations on Atlanta based real estate attorneys, accountants, financial planners, contractors, and rental property managers.  No rush, but I figured I'd get the ball rolling!

Thanks Jerry, I appreciate the quick response and words of advice!  Wyoming is a state I have yet to set foot in, looking forward to it one of these days.

Hello everyone, my name is Joel and I'm JUST getting started with my real estate investment education.  I have a house in Columbus, OH but frequently work on television shows as a producer throughout the country.  I am currently stationed in Atlanta, Georgia.

My initial interest is in "buy and hold" small rental properties to start with.  I like the idea of monthly cashflow, who doesn't?!?

I am also intrigued by tax lien investing, especially since I've read Georgia is one of the better states for this type of investing.  But, I'm still VERY new to all of this and my preferences could change quite a bit once I gain more knowledge.

My first concern is that I'll need to hire a rental management company since I sometimes work out of state. I'm also a little overwhelmed when it comes to hiring an attorney, creating a LLC, S-Corp or C-Corp, insurance, tax implications, etc, but I assume that comes with the territory when starting out.

I found BiggerPockets by way of AffordAnything.com.
