Post: Lead based paint

BiggerPockets Community, I need an opinion. I am very new to real estate investing, in fact I am trying to land my first deal. I found a duplex that I am very interested in and the owner told me that since the house was built prior to 1978, lead based paint was found on the fascia. In 2008, she had the unit painted and the HUD certified. Should I be worried about lead based paint as a landlord? Is this something I need to disclose to future renters? Any advice on the issue is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Joe

Hello BiggerPockets community. My name is Joe Ferrin and I currently live in Boise, Idaho. I am 23 years old and work as a mechanical engineer for a consulting firm. My wife and I got married last November and are looking to begin investing in real estate due to the success we have seen her mom have while investing in real estate. We are looking to establish cash flow in hopes that my wife can quit her job and be a stay at home mom when we are ready for kids. I am very interested in multi-family units in southern Idaho. Specifically the treasure valley and magic valley. I look forward to getting to know some of you on here and begin networking with you. Thanks for your time! Joe
