Thanks everyone for your replies!  I have about a year's worth of salary in student loan debt so I'm putting 25% of my gross income towards paying it off.  I still have some left over each month which I have been putting into index funds.  Have always been a fan of Jack Bogle.  So now I'm pondering taking that extra and saving up a down payment for my first property.  Once these loans are gone things will be easier.  So nice to see several others on here from the area.  Ben, I'm reading the Book on Rental Property Investing.  I didn't realize he has written multiple.

Greetings everyone!  Have always had an interest in real estate and hoping to pursue buy and hold rental properties.  Currently listening to Brandon's book.  Just recently finished residency and am now a practicing physician.  I have a considerable amount of student loan debt that I'm planning to pay off in 5 years or less.  Still wrestling with the idea of trying to get started with a property while I'm paying off the debt or waiting until I'm done. Looking forward to learning more and paying it forward when I can.
