My husband and I are new to the Asheville area and we are looking to buy our first property! First step: get a lender and agent (thanks BP). We are interested in getting a "home base" property 3-20 acres in or around Asheville NC and then pick up rental properties as the deals arise. 

Home Base is the tricky one and our primary focus, we are interested in establishing a bona fide farm with value-added products. Gardens, greenhouses, chickens, goats, and a commercial kitchen or room to build a kitchen that could support a food truck or catering company. We love pretty much everything within a half-hour drive of Asheville and are partial to Woodfin, Mars Hill, Marshall and Black Mountain. 

So after posing our last question to the BP community--where to move if you could start a real estate empire anywhere--we have a destination and, of course, more questions! My husband and I participated in the Finding Your First Deal webinar and had the pleasure of Brandon Turner mulling over our quest; where to buy if you could start over anywhere combined with househacking, renters markets and cities that are more inviting to a young couple than Chernobyl. Of the options that were presented we were most excited about (*drumroll*) Cincinnati OH! 

Now that we're planning on packing up and moving across the country--without visiting the city of course--we need the basics and are turning to the BP community for help! We are looking for a real estate agent in the area, a lender and some general advice on which parts of the city to look at. In a perfect world we want to have found and put an offer on a house-hacking fixer-upper property by the end of February. 

We were professional chefs and restaurateurs for many years and would be happy to invite (bribe) people with food and wine in exchange for real estate help. Hope to hear from y'all soon!

Thank you for the advice, we are open to all options, we are trying to build a "top ten" list for best investment markets and then do a road trip and hit them all to see which one we like the best. 

My wife and I are vagabonds (currently living in New Orleans) and have saved up around $50K (and rising) to being investing in real estate with the focus on finding a 2-4 family in an up and coming market to house hack, we would like to buy a few more over the coming years and we are also interested in doing flips to help finance more purchases as we go to build lasting passive income and wealth. We have a variety of jobs we work that are either remote or require us to travel to them so we are open to any market that is within two hour drive of a major airport (so 75% of the country), but where!?! We are asking the Bigger Pockets community to help us pick a location to move to and start investing, if you could move anywhere to start buying property TODAY or VERY SOON where would you go? Why?
