Post: *New here* Seeking 1st Multi-Unit Property. STR?LTR? -New Orleans

Hi! I'm new here to BiggerPockets. I'm seeking to get started in real estate in some capacity! I live in the New Orleans area and would love to hear your thoughts/advice on some good first steps. I am leaning towards purchasing my first home (multi-family). I am leaning towards a duplex/triplex. I would love to get into the short term rental market, but know I have much to learn regarding regulations, especially in my local area. Many around me are long-term landlords and have always steered me in that direction, but after speaking to many short-term landlords, I think many are missing out on this great opportunity! Any suggestions on networking, material to read, individuals to follow, or any general information to help steer me in the right direction? I'm seeking to purchase a duplex/triplex under $200,000... at least for now. Meeting with a realtor soon to kick start this but want to make sure my I'm taking the best steps possible.

Any thoughts/feedback is MUCH appreciated.

Thank you!

-Jess

Hey everyone. I am about finish my bachelors degree in business and I have been searching for a new career in property management or something of the sort. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to start looking or how to get into the field, since I am young and do not have much experience with real estate. Hello everyone!

My name is Jessica, full time student (almost done) and I am basically brand new to all of this.

The past months I have read some blogs, books, etc. about real estate investing and I am actually taking a class that will allow me to get my real estate license.. Not sure if that is what I want to do though..

I would love to learn as much as I can and I am already reading the bigger pockets Beginner Guide in Real Estate.

Any tips or suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks so much.

Excited to be apart of a community with so many knowledgeable and successful people!
