Bruce Norris, the SoCal guru, is now having boot camps in Florida.  For $1000, you can tour his land developments.  That gives you the right to join his followers and have a house built.  Has anyone here gone to one of the boot camps and/or bought one of his houses?   How was the experience?

I received an email from Dave Van Horn saying that PPR has access to cheaper money now so they are closing out their 12% fund and returning the principal.  They have every right to do that per their contract.

I invested in PPR because they had a stellar reputation on BP.  I am sorry that PPR has chosen not to fulfill the entire term of the fund.  I invested shortly before the fund closed to new investors, and I have less than a year left on my contract so I am surprised that the extra 2% is so important to Dave.  I'm sure to Dave, it is just business.  For me, I'm just disappointed.

For those thinking that notes are 'safe', there are few of the protections such as title companies and required disclosures which are part of real estate transactions.  It is much more of the wild west.  I have been scammed by two note 'mentors'.  (It is not just Scott.)

There has been a lot of talk about doing background checks.  Can someone suggest a few reputable background checking companies?  My research only finds 'tenant background checks'.  Who can you use for 'business partner background checks'?

According to Greg Hughes, Hughes Capital buys and manages low-end rentals.  Investors receive a % of total profits.  You can buy some of their houses to satisfy your 1031 requirements but still receive the aggregate %age.  Has anyone invested with them or a similar 1031 option?
