@Greg Potter my plan is to find a 2 Family in either Rochester or Syracuse. If it's in Syracuse, I'll live in one of them, if Rochester my buddy will have one side and then he'll be right there during any renovations or issues.

I've already found to friends from high school on here. BP is awesome.

Well that was fast! Thanks everyone. I don't remember how I stumbled across BiggerPockets but it is a gold mine of information. I will definitely check out the FFREIA. There has got to be a REIA in Syracuse. To the Googles!

Hi everyone,

It's time for my first post to get this real estate thing rolling. I'm 22 from Syracuse, NY. More precisely Auburn. I'm a recent graduate from The University at Buffalo with a degree in mechanical engineering. That probably won't help a ton on the business side but I'm pretty handy.

I've been interested in real estate for years. My parents wanted to get into it a while back but then kids starting going to college and the extra money to get started just wasn't there.

I'm working together with a college friend from my area. He works for a property management company and is picking up a lot about this business.

Right now we are just saving and learning while keeping an eye on some houses and seeing how they are moving. We'd like to pick up a multi-family between Rochester and Syracuse, fix it up as needed and get it rented.

I know there is a lot to learn and I'm very excited to make that first deal.
