@Garrett M. the prices are pretty high here but there are still deals out there. Also, like @Matt Garboden mentioned, the outer portions of the city still have quite a bit of deals. In fact I saw a couple the other day that @Ramiah Thomas posted that look like great opportunities for flips.

@Marco Santarelli my goal at this point is to get enough rental properties to substitute my W-2 income. I'm sure this will change as I move forward but that is the target at this point.

Greetings everyone! I'm Josh, an electrician from Portland, Oregon. I recently graduated with a Construction Management degree and am currently working on my Bachelors in Business. I want to use the BRRRR strategy to flip homes in the Portland metro area. My long term goal is to have rental properties that generate enough passive income to quit my Mon-Fri job and free me up to travel.

I found BiggerPockets through a podcast search on real estate and have been hooked ever since. (About 5 months now)

I look forward to getting to know the people of this community and learning from the vast wealth of knowledge that is in here. Any advice, direction, book recommendations, etc., are welcome.
