I'd seen the salary/home price one before but the rent one is an interesting quick reference point. Thanks for sharing that @Jeff Gilbert!

It would be interesting to have a similar graphic with the average price of each of those units (but I'm sure that information is available).

@Chris NordsveenI've mainly been working through setting up documents, getting familiar with deal analysis, trying to establish rehab pricing for the various items and services.

As others have stated, I have been trying to gauge what the best path forward is at this point given what the job market might be doing or might not be doing.

Obviously for Calgary, oil is a huge part of the economy but things aren't as desperate (yet) for many companies. Trying to re-evaluate if the condo route is the best option right now but I am always down to meet up and discuss as well.

Jesse

I think it would be interesting to plot mean housing prices against mean household income as well.

Some interesting talking points regarding the consumer product price differential. For the most part,  I think much of that has materialized in the past 5 years with an exceptionally strong dollar. I think many Canadians have forgotten that aspect (priced the same but a 20-30% premium due to exchange).

The housing front is a bit of a different beast though.

None of which will get you much traction in Canada.

Here you are better off to list your rental on Kijiji.

This is true until you get out to BC and (and even some areas of Alberta) where Craigslist is far more popular for some reason. Never did understand why though.
