Kyle, it really depends on your goals. I would recommend visiting local REI groups and talking to people to get a better idea. The WesternMass REI, Inc group is great! Just google them and link up through the Facebook page. I have learned a ton from the people there so far.

They are also hosting a conference this October that would be perfect for you. Check it out at

Has anyone ever bought a multi-family that is split between two towns? Are there any nuances to this? I understand that the taxes would have to be split (not an even % either) but are there any other concerns?

Thanks in advance!

I am looking into quotes for a large custom made window. I am looking into Jeld Wen, American Craftsman 70 and Paradigm 8300. All are roughly the same price. Is it worth spending the extra cash on a more expensive window?

Hello BP. I am looking for some resources for why being a private money lender is beneficial. I have found some info on how to find / work with private money lenders and even how to get started. What I am looking for is something to convince some friends that it is a great way to invest. Thanks for the help!

Thanks everyone for your insight. This is basically what I was expecting. But I am always eager to hear the other side.

Thanks again!

I am in search of some guidance on removing a load bearing wall for a house I am renovating. I am not so much concerned with the process as what the state codes are (i.e. length of support beam without vertical support, materials to use, etc).

Either way I would also like to have someone come in and take a look. Does anyone have any recommendations for general contractors and structural engineers in Western Mass?

Has anyone used SolidSurface counter tops? Are they durable enough for rentals? Easy to install? I know it is a cheaper option but not sure it is worth it vs. granite or quartz.

@Daniel Weber thanks for the advice. I have called a few places and feel the price is a bit high. I'm trying to weigh risk to reward. I may save a counter install for a bathroom vanity for now. If the difference tends to be a few $100s after material I think it would be worth hiring a pro
