House hacking your primary home and repeating the process every year or two is the easiest and safest way to build long term wealth through time. 

Welcome to BP! You're not going to get a lot of people in here telling you to wait! It depends on the market but we are finding it a great time to buy. Not as much competition means you can negotiate more and rates have gone down in the last few weeks. It's always a good time to buy good deals, just make sure you are underwriting them correctly and conservatively. STRs generally equal more cash flow but more work. You are literally running a hospitality business, if that is something you are interested in then great otherwise boring LTR over time make the most sense.
