@Daniel Smyth first of all thanks for your service. 👍🏽 and i did fortune builders first but that wasn’t the one I am referring too. The one that got me for 4 grand was RE MENTOR with DAve Lindahl. They must be good at what they do because a few people “the chosen ones” went to the back to sign up for the advanced classes and training. Funniest part is that an older sweetest lady that attended the inference but had multiple properties didn’t even return for day 2. I guess she figured out that she could put that 40k towards another property. Lol.

@Corey Bashaw that is the plan going forward. Still wish I could save more people from falling for the same sales pitch. 😟

Ok have you ever heard of meetup it's an app? If not you should download it and start looking for real estate investing meetup around you're area and go to them you can find mentors/coaching for way less expensive that's how I found my mentors/coaching I'm involved in now I'm still new in this REI business but I have mentors now helping me ever bit of the way

Thanks or your response John. You are absolutely right. The more I listen to Brandon on Youtube and others, the more i realize that all the stuff I was taught in the workshop is absolutely FREE INFORMATION out there.

My opinion...... DON'T! Most are money pits for the "gurus" they win, you lose. There are many other more effective ways to learn.

The 3 day workshop was $1500 and I took my wife with me (no free lunch by the way) just coffee which I am sure the hotel provided. The second 3 day workshop was $2500 and we were given a bunch of manuals and also did a walk through of some properties under contract or that was up for sale. We met the property manager and also discussed why it is a Type C property in a B area (here in Houston, TX)... Now for the 80k membership/mentoring/coaching program, you get a lot more perks (which I am sure, I can also get by partnering with a seasoned investor on my first deal) without wasting my life savings. My wife confirmed that after doing some research, getting your money back is like pulling an elephant through a needle hole. So LIVE AND LEARN!!!!

@Jeremiah Akindele I just have to confirm what I read, $4k for 3-day crash course ($500 has been going rate in all I have ever known and worked, which is a bit of $ but they allow to bring 1 free person and provide lunch's so all in all $250 per person, it's a fair price for the education given) and at end their pitch was a $40k program that they were saying to max out credit cards to pay for, or empty 401k to pay for?!?!?!?!

See.... I am not so forgiving, some things I do for the point of it, and I would file suit (theft by swindle) and file with state attorney general. One benefit of having dealt with frivolous BS from tenants or whomever in deals is having a really good education of the civil suite system and how to make a dirt-bags life hell. And oh yes, I have done it, and won, repeatedly. The lawyer made a lot of $, I broke even. Worth it! lol

@Kris & Victoria... I definitely understand your perspective. Will there be people out there with similar success stories after dishing out 40K? Absolutely!!!! What drove me nuts and lost my hair is that the same information that was provided for $4grand, I found on Youtube 2 days later. :( Guess everyone's journey will be different but I refuse to max out credit cards, max out life savings or 401k for a mentorship/coaching. I am certain partnering with an experienced investor would teach me a lot more anyways. But great perspective as stated.

@Jeremiah Akindele I know you have had a ton of replies, but I wanted to chime in and provide another point of view.  We too attended the free workshop, paid a couple K for the 3-day workshop and then were up sold to the membership.

For us this investment has changed our lives.  In the two years since investing 25k+ we have purchased almost 2 million in Real Estate both personally and Joint Ventures (Canada market), both my wife and I have left our previous careers to make real estate our full time career and we are on track to build, sell/hold another 2.4 million this year.

Did the REI guru do this for us no, could we have done it on our own, maybe... did I use the free resources at BP as another resource to make all this happen. Yes!!!

What I’m saying is everyone is different. For us the 25k investment gave us the motivation to take action. But I know many others who spent the money, did nothing and called the guru a scam.  In the end it’s up to you and how you use the tools you are given.

Good luck...

My sentiments exactly Caleb. Thanks for reaching out.

@Jeremiah Akindele I don't know what level of investments your looking at, but $40,000 can get you started on a property (or multiple).  From that point, a lot of self education takes place with real-life scenarios that you can't duplicate in a workshop.  Save your money. Best of luck on your investments.

Hey Zach thanks for the info. I have definitely opted out of the 40k program. I would rather invest that money in my own property and learn from my first deal or with a local partner/investor that has more experience.
