Joe, I have been a Property Manager in the Metro for 8 years.  For evictions/housing court, Hennepin County is the only county in the metro area in which landlords can represent themselves.  All others must be filed, etc. by a lawyer.  Good luck.

Thank you for the information.  I do not plan to live in any of my units - I have a family, dog, house that makes that option very undesirable to me.

For the last 8 years, I have worked as a Property Manager for a private, nonprofit company that provides affordable housing to the Twin Cities area.  My husband and I have been researching the idea of purchasing long term income producing properties for many years now.  I am at a place (financially, professionally, etc.) where it makes sense to take the leap.  We live in an eastern suburb of St Paul and are focusing our search to the St Paul area.  At this time, I plan to conduct the property management tasks and my husband will be handling the legal aspects (he is a practicing attorney in MN.)
