Hi there, I just closed on my first cabin and was wondering about security camera, floodlights and the ring doorbell. Initially I was thinking of getting both a floodlight camera for the front/driveway and ring doorbell for back where the door is located. Possibly can even add an extra camera in the back overlooking the deck. Is that overkill?

I wanted the doorbell in case they need to contact me in case of an emergency without a phone and/service. Not really for the doorbell function itself

Floodlights since it's so dark at night. But do you put floodlights on a cabin in the woods? Would that take away from remote cabin feel?

Are security cameras necessary? To what extent?

Thanks in advance for your help

I have added the Nest Yale lock for my property in CA (I'm in WA). I am having trouble with the app and have not been able to change the code remotely.  Anyone have some knowledge as to what to do?  Thanks!

 Hi, Susan

are you still using the nest yale? Still having problems with it?

Quote from @Dan Collier:

Based on some reviews, it looks like the Schlage Encode is great, but it seems hard to find in stock these days.  The Encode Plus is supposed to have even more smart features but there's no news lately as to when that is hitting the market.  I think I'm gonna try the Kwikset 99390-001.  Out of the box it has 250 remotely manageable codes and they can be set on a schedule.  I'll also try to find a way to further integrate/automate it with AirBNB or whichever property management app we might use moving forwards.

Hi Dan, did you go with the kwikset? Can you share your experience? Does it integrate with any channel managers and/or auto generate codes for guess? What about battery life?

Thanks in advance

Hi everyone

I see that this question is asked a lot, however, majority of the recommendations is for the schlage encode. I cannot find this model in stores so now what? What's the second best? Are there any other locks that integrate with channel managers? Auto generate codes with reservations? If not, how do you handle the code management process?

Thanks in advance
