Yes and I’m having a terrible time getting any follow through.  They said they are having a hard time finding quotes for our residential properties. This has been quite frustrating

I have multiple rental properties and I’ve been trying to find a broker to cover all my properties plus do a personal, commercial umbrella as well as business insurance here. My state of residency is Alaska but my properties are in Oregon and my business is in Alaska.  Any options for me?

If you want to go through a discount insurance broker, try policygenius.com. Used them a couple times with success. Understand the landlord policy and be clear about what's covered (wind/hail/water etc.). In a rush to provide you with the lowest quote they may sometimes eliminate some other coverages that may be important for you.

For umbrella insurance, use the same company that does your primary home & cars. Once the umbrella insurance is established, you can add your investment properties to the umbrella.

To summarize:

1. Start with discount insurance broker (policygenius) to do rate shopping for your rental investment properties

2. Get Umbrella from your primary insurance provider in your home state

3. Add rental properties to your umbrella

4. Rinse and repeat :)

All the best!

My primary insurance provider won’t give me the amount I was told I need for an umbrella policy.  I’ve shopped around here and have had zero luck.  My primary insurance is in Alaska so that may be the issue.  Everything is harder to get done up here 🤪. Also they told me if I did their umbrella (which I won’t because it isn’t high enough). It would still only cover my primary home and autos in Alaska. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi,

We have several properties in Oregon but my state of residency is Alaska.  I’m having difficulty trying to get an agent or insurance company to write all my policies and umbrella policy because i live in a different state than my properties.  What does everyone do for insurance?

@Johann Jells light regulation turns into deeper regulation...once govt hands go in they don’t go out.  You are just used to living in a highly regulated govt in NJ

@Jay Hinrichs i understand what you are saying but before this law I’d pay nothing...so I’m not counting my blessings...I’m mad that people are making these laws when it is my properties and I shouldn’t have to pay them anything if I want them out.

@Travis Watson I’m just frustrated in general by this bill and also having to pay one months rent to a tenant i give 90 days notice to...that’s ludicrous.
