@Benjamin Barredo ,

Buy and hold is definitely the most attractive option in my opinion, but I think I would like to do some flipping as well.

At the moment, I feel like I still have a lot to learn. So much of this game seems to revolve around finding unbelievable deals, but I haven't quite figured out where to look just yet.

Thanks for the advice @Adam Schooley !

I love the idea of house hacking, and I'm definitely looking out for something that will give me that opportunity. Hard to beat having your mortgage paid for you by the neighbor.

@Lucas Machado , sounds great! I was thinking about going to a convention on 11/3 that I read about here. Would you recommend any particular meet ups? I would love to meet.

Thanks for the advice @James Meyer !

I certainly like the idea of having a paycheck to cover expenses, at least for now. It would be nice to roll my earnings right back into more investments.

Thanks for the reply @Jean Taveras

That is basically the area I have been interested in, so I hope we can work together in the near future!

Hello BiggerPockets!

My name is Jeff, and I have recently caught the real estate investing bug. I stumbled across BiggerPockets while researching how best to invest in my retirement, and I never imagined a topic as mundane as investment could possibly lead into such an obsession. Over the past several weeks I have consumed articles, books, and podcasts with a familiarly ravenous appetite, but for the first time I find myself driven toward mastering my financial future as apposed to winning at fantasy football, conquering a video game, or dominating my local TCG tournament. Who knows, maybe this means I have finally grown up...? But probably not.

The fact is, I have gone through some fairly life altering events in 2016, and I'm beyond ready for a professional change. At the moment, I'm working full time as middle management in the health care industry with some certifications lined up for a switch into IT planned. I don't know if its feasible to think I could quit having a full time job for real estate investing any time soon, but who knows where my new found passion will lead. Flipping definitely sounds like a blast, but "buy and hold" is definitely more in line with my overall goals.

I'm certainly still a newbie by all counts, but reading books is only going to get me so far, so I figured it was time to take my first step into meeting the community. I look forward to getting to know you all!
