@John Tobin funny story actually, I’ve been working as a real estate agent since 2018 and have helped several investors find great investment properties. I’ve been learning from them as I’m also able to help them negotiate a better deal.

I’ve also been able to purchase a multifamily property in Suffern.

Hey Bigger Pockets!

My parents are real estate investors and they own 4 duplexes in Rockland County. We found a great deal but our lender is asking for 25% down. We dont have the full downpayment. We are looking for a personal loan for 50k to use as downpayment or any other advice as to how to get our hands on this duplex for less than 25% down payment.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

This was super helpful to understand what my next move should be. It seems it may not be the best area for a first investment property, especially if im not planning on living there.  Are any of you investing in nearby areas to Middletown NY and Goshen?

I live in Rockland NY but properties are too expensive here. Looking for better and developing markets up state with decent school districts.

Any advice?

Im new to real estate investing.

Im interested in buying a property in Middletown NY, however my real estate agent told me the town is forcing landlords to convert triplexes into duplexes when they can't fill the vacancy fast enough. He also said this makes triplexes difficult to find in the area.

Im not certain what this means on the macro side of things. Does this mean they are looking to increase the number of owner occupied properties? Could they just be trying to decrease local vacancies? Will this force property values to increase? (I think it may)

What does this mean for real estate investment? Does this make for a difficult first investment? Have any of you experienced a situation similar to this?

Thank you!

-Jeff

Hello Bigger Pockets,

Im currently 23 years old and  am very interested in real estate investment. I work at a movie theater and a well known and very successful real estate investor came in. We spoke about me earning my real estate agent license and my interest in investment. He offered to give me advice in the future. What is the best way for me to approach him a second time? I know there is a lot I could learn from him. Any suggestions?
