Thanks @Eric Gardiner
What are your thoughts on investing in Utah? I see the prices back east and feel like my dollar can go a lot farther but I also like the idea of doing PM things myself in the beginning and would like to be local for that part.

@Andrew Fredrickson

SFR right now while I build up capital. I like the idea of large multis down the road.
@Andrew Fredrickson

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm basically at the beginning. I technically have a rental but it doesn't cash flow. We got it as a place for my in-laws and their rent is covering all the bills (no capex savings at this point).
I have some friends who are into REI and as I've looked at retirement savings and retiring early I think REI is the best bet. My grandparents have had a few businesses and business investments in their time which have come and gone and they still say "real estate has always been good to us".

I've been listening to the two BP podcasts and watching some videos on the YT channel which is what drove me to making an account and getting on the forums.

I plan on getting and reading both of those books in the coming weeks/months.

Hey, so I'm Jeff. This all may be TMI but this is a networking place so I guess I'll just throw it all out there.

I'm just starting my journey in real estate investing. I listened to Rick Dad Poor Dad when I started college and have had real estate/business in the back of my mind ever since. I own my house and a Townhouse (bought it for family to live in. I know I know, renting to family and all that.)

I'm living in Utah county Utah but I'm from Indiana and Tennessee. I expect that as we start investing more it'll be in the midwest/south for better costs which means long distance investing. Though I'd like to settle down back in those parts so maybe it won't be long distance forever. I'd like to transition into multi unit investing some day because in my head I see it as more manageable but with a PM in place maybe it doesn't matter.

For my day job, I'm a software developer (Android historically). Our family's goals are to pay off our consumer/student loan debts and have enough cash flow that I can cut back my hours (maybe to 0 hours) and travel full time in our travel trailer for a few years and then maybe go back to work but probably not. We're wanting to do that within 5 years.
