For those of you who have student rentals in Ontario, or more broadly in Canada, what company do you use for home insurance?

I have just bought my first rental property. I will be renting it out to a family for 6 months then planning to convert it to a student rental. I have Allstate for my primary residence so was planning to use them however they stated they don’t give insurance on student rentals. This wouldn’t be an issue at the start when I rent to a family, but not sure how that would play out if I did rent to students in the future.

Is there any companies that insure student rentals at a decent price?

Thanks in advance!

@Muiz Ashiqali Definitely depends what type of property/ tenants you are looking at. The answer will change a bit depending on whether you are looking at multi family, single family or student rentals (by room).

@Matt McKee Hey Matt! Love your channel, funny to stumble across you posting here! I’m from Sarnia and the market here has jumped nearly 35% since you made this post. Did you ever end up buying here?
