Sold house in september.  In recent days closing agent has contacted me and said we didn't pay enough in taxes and we owe the buyers large sum of $ right now because he paid too much. Apparently the closing agent/ title co factored in our previous years tax bill (in which the house was homesteaded ) instead of the last year we owned (it was a rental property the last year of our ownership). The tax bill has been paid in full at closing. I dont have access to that money at this time. Isnt their some bit of responsibilty on the title agent for not doing due diligence and seeing if the house was homesteaded? If I owe the money I will pay but it seems like somebody dropped the ball.

thanks for the reply. The house is super messy and has a dog smell and would not show well at this time

I have a tenant who is attempting to stay past his lease by 3 weeks. Seems as if my options are very limited in this state. Is it worth trying to evict? Im sure I will be able to make a claim on the security deposit right? Additional months rent? We are trying to sell the house and the first week of June is hot and the best time to be on the market in Florida. This will possibly cost  me tens of thousands of dollars in the Sales Price because the market will be much drier come July. I had initially inquired at 60 days until lease expiration if they wanted to renew the lease. After a few days they said they would. 15 days later our circumstances changed and I informed them I would need to sell the house and the lease would not be renewed. This still gives them 45 days to find a place to live.  They say they have a contract on a house but cannot leave until 3 weeks after lease is up. Any advice would be appreciated
