I've placed an offer on a property in Detroit that is listed and setup like a MFR but has a single address and combined utilities. I would like to rent out the units separately.

How can I check if this is allowed? Can this be confirmed just by the zoning of the property and if so, how do I go about checking that? If not, is there someone or a department at the city I could contact?
