Thanks @Isaac Braun and @John Woodrich, helpful for me too! I will start with a visit to the city office.

Thanks @Jim Adrian, any recommendations for a fencing company?

Thanks @Jonathan P Holmes! Any recommendations for a surveyor in the Minneapolis area?

Hi all - In the process of a buying a home in SLP and converting my current townhome into a rental. Does anyone have any good recommendations for the following:

1. Plumber - need to replace a bathtub and the guy I usually use isn’t available

2. Fence installation - want to fence in the backyard. I have some handymen who could do it but think I might need a survey and permit so wanted to get a professional opinion

3. Fireplace - want to convert 2 wood burning fireplaces to gas

Thanks!

Thanks all! Will follow up with you in DM.

@Troy Sheets - I work for a private equity firm, we invest in middle market companies around the country.

Hi All - I'm a business investor by profession but relatively new to real estate. I've done a handful of flips and also back a startup that helps homeowners maximize their home value at sale. Looking to get into multifamily/commercial investing through a variety of angles - direct, partnership, syndication - open to it all at this point. Have connected with a few local BP members so far and really appreciate all the great advice and feedback. Always looking to make new connections, share ideas and find ways to work together. Excited to be part of the community!

Hey Kent - Great discussion topic, as I am based in Minneapolis and in pretty much the same situation as you. My approach so far has just been to meet as many people as possible, go to as many local meet ups as I can, and continue learning/reading/listening. I really like what @Steve Brown mentioned about finding a local syndicator to invest with and learn from, have been focused on that approach before I take the plunge on my own. Would be great to keep in touch and see how our approaches evolve.
