Our team is having an internal debate on whether or not to finish a basement.  We have purchased a Pulte home within a development where homes are selling for $100 to $115 a square foot.  75% of the comps have the same kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms from the original build out along with unfinished basements.  In order to separate our property, we are obviously rehabbing the those three key areas, however our team is split on whether or not to finish the basement.  Can anyone share thoughts or experiences on the value of finishing a basement for a flip in a market where homes are selling for $100 to $115 a square foot, with the average square footage being 2,200 sq ft a home.

Thoughts?  Experiences?

Thanks in advance to everyone who comments!!

@Matt Motil, thanks for the kind words!  It does appear that we are looking in the same markets and hopefully that leads to a possible collaboration down the road.  Catch up sometime soon.

@Gwen Fyfe, Well I will always take a little luck coming back from over the Pond lol.

My partner and I are currently working on our first flip property.  We purchased our first single family home at auction about two weeks ago and are currently working the closing aspect of it.  Our ultimate goal is to use the flip market to build our financial reserves over the first two to three years and then use that cash flow to buy/hold properties creating the passive income we all desire.

Welcome to BP! Congrats on the big win last night. Pretty crazy game/series, but much respect to Cleveland for doing the impossible. Sounds like you're already on the move. That's great. Some people think that they need to learn everything before doing anything and that often overwhelms and wastes time. All the best with your first deal!

Good evening Bigger Pockets Members!

I sit here writing tonight still enjoying Cleveland sports history and just how good it feels to be a Clevelander these days.  As exciting as this moment is for Clevelanders, I am even more excited because my partner and our team are currently working on closing our first deal.  What a learning curve and were still learning every day, however we have put our feet to the fire and can't wait to move forward in our journey.  So many possibilities and so many more Podcasts to listen too.  I want to thank Bigger Pockets for helping my partner and I get off the bench and into the game!!  We are building our team and looking to collaborate with others as well.  If you are in the Cleveland/Northeast Ohio market and care to chat, share or possibly collaborate on a deal please contact us.

We are so excited for what the future holds!  Look forward to hearing from many you and hopefully sharing our future success stories with you as well.

Jason R.
