@Jason Hawk  absolutely.  I was born and raised in Michigan.   I have a love for the midwest.  I am still trying to figure out where to start.  Thank you for the welcome.

Thank you @Linval T. for all of the great links and BP site links and Book recommendations. This is exactly the information that I need to help me navigate the site as well as the REI.

@Pili Yarusi Thank you for introducing me to a meeting.  I will definitely reach out to Darren and see when the next meeting will be scheduled.

Hello name is Jason Potter.  I am a chef in NYC.  I am married with 2 young boys.  My wife and I have been talking about investing in real estate for a year or so now.  As a parent and a chef I don't seem to have much free time.  After much thought I have realized these are excuses getting in my way.

I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets Podcast for almost a year but a lot more frequently now (everyday).  As the new year is upon us I have made it a goal to acquire at least 1 property.  I am not really sure which route to go as they all seem interesting.  I was a carpenter when i was younger so am very handy and like the idea of flipping but not sure my schedule would allow me the time.  Flip and hold sounds great as it will allow us to gain passive income, while still purchasing something in an affordable price range.  Real Estate seems like a very scary thing to get into especially in the NY market.  I also realize if I don't do something now I will continue to procrastinate.

Thank you and I hope to learn from people on this site.
