@JoEllen Soucie. I know your post is four years old but I am in Rolla as well and am about to get started.

@John M.I live in Rolla, MO and I'm considering Branson as a place to invest in a STR. I've noticed most condos on the MLS do not mention the HOA fees in the listing so you have to ask for each one.

@Leroy Wallace Jr. Yeah my contractor was with me and pointed out the lack of crawl space access and his concerns. I know older homes tend to have more problems and I think I could price in the risk but that and the drug house next door was too much.

Found a place where the numbers were there but just too many problems between sketchy neighbors and the age of the house to pull the trigger. The house is 80 years old with no access to the crawlspace. A grown person could probably not squeeze under the floor Joices anyhow. I just feel like if something went wrong it would be a mess to get it fixed. There seems to be a lot of demand here in a university town but the only properties where the numbers seem to work are old and run down. Am I being too picky?
