Everyone has a quote or motto that keeps them motivated and moving forward. For the Marines it is, Semper Fi which translates to "Always Faithful." For the Army, "This We'll Defend."

For me, it is the famous quote by Eric Thomas that has sent chills throughout my bones ever since I heard it for the first time during my junior year of high school. The quote is simply,

"When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful."

I don't just read this quote and think about it, but, I feel it throughout every inch of my body and right in my heart. I get amped. I get emotional. I get going.

I know that this means to drop the excuses of how you can't or aren't able to reach your goal, to commit to an actionable plan, to understand your intrinsic and extrinsic reasons why, and to focus on following through on the objective- even though it will be uncomfortable.

Here is where I am starting -

My excuses: I have student debt. Not just the kind that will vanish into thin air but the type of private loans that can really weigh you down. Like $75,000 of student loan debt that accumulates as much as my payments are every month. It is my reality that I need to overcome this and I will not let this be an excuse anymore

My goal oriented plan: Using the SMART system, for those who don't know, Specific, Measurable, Actionable/Attainable, Realistic, Time Oriented. I will obtain my first MFH or SF rental property within the first quarter of the 2022 calendar year. The property will have a positive NOI of at least $200 per door. I will attain this by analyzing 5 deals per day/35 per week within a 25 mile range of my own address. I will cold call no less than 5 potential sellers each week and if I need to analyze more deals to make the 5 calls to potential sellers then I will ONLY increase and never decrease. This is realistic because I am jumping in with both feet, I have the time and can utilize obtaining a DSCR or private loan to help get the proper resources.

My why: I need to ensure that my wife and future children do not go through the same financial hardships that my family when through when I was a kid. I need to be able to lift up and give opportunities to people within my community; and set a new precedent for a better quality of life. I need to enable others to rise up to be the best version of themselves through being the best version of myself because I believe that you need to be the change you want to see in the world

How I will focus: I will keep true to my SMART goal and set aside time every Friday @ 2:00PM- 2:30PM to reflect, and if needed, to adjust my approach. I will not shame myself for not hitting a daily goal, I will be positive and proactive in my self judgements.

You've heard my truth, my why, my SMART goals, and my focus. Now I want to know yours!

Be truthful, honest, and open.
