@Carl Fischer Thank you Carl. Do yo work for CamaPlan? They are one of the companies I am looking at to use as a trustee. I'm still researching a few other companies, but they are high on my list. I plan to call CamaPlan and with a few clarifying questions.

@Justin Windham Yes it is finicky; worked this time. I am folding my video company, so no more 1099 income.

I have not looked into it yet, though I no longer have 1099 income from my video business.

Why am I unable to tag  you?

Justin-

I don't plan to take taxable distrubution out of my IRA to invest, but to roll my current funds into an SDIRA, where the SDIRA holds, pays for expenses and receives money from the investment, or I will use the SDIRA funds to invest in anothers LLC.

Since I am over 59.5, I can take draws from the IRA as needed knowing I would pay taxes, which I would be paying on any other income anyway.

I am still in the process of researching trustees, and will reach out to them with questions concerning the details of SDIRAs and their members experience, but still want to hear directly from BPers about their personal experience, fears, concerns success, etc.

Ok, now that I have a number of trustees to research, I'd like to here from or talk with someone who has an SD-IRA. The prevailing wisdom has often been, "don't touch your retirement money to invest in real estate."

As I get more involved with this world, I'm hearing that redirecting retirement money is a great way to grow your income and build assets. It's a scary thought, however.

I understand how SD-IRAs work, so I'd like to know how you took the leap to moving your retirement funds from a 'secure' position in a standard investment scenario to self-directing your retirement funds into real estate.

My sense: this is a good way to have skin in the game and create a track record, particularly when I start to invite others to invest with me, while increasing my return.

Thank you for contributing your thoughts and ideas, I look forward to hearing about your experience self-directing your personal IRA funds.

Cheers-
