I started my legal career in 2002 representing WFB on their commercial workouts, note dispositions and commercial collections in State and Federal Bankruptcy Courts and after a few years moved over to representing Albertsons in various commercial real estate matters and mergers and acquisitions. I have been learning as much as I can about the note industry so I can transition out of stocks to note investing through a self directed retirement account.
I want to listen to the advice from many of the experts in this forum on networking, joining a meetup and trying to establish relationships.
The problem I'm having is I'm in Boise, Idaho which is a great place to live but I'm not finding any note investing groups. I see some meetups in larger western/northwest cities I can get easy hour flights to and was hoping to get some advice on which groups would be the most worthwhile. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
P.S. I don't know if they'll read this but I know some of them are on these forums so I want to give a sincere thank you to so many that have shared their knowledge through their books and podcasts listed below.
-Joshua Andrews and his book, "Paper Profits" (great, easy to understand book).
-Gordon Moss and his book, "Performance Anxiety" (great book with one of the all time best titles . . . but I got quite a few stares while reading at lunch).
-Dave Van Horn and his book, "Note Investing."
-Fuquan Bilal and his book, "Turning Distress into Success" and all his NNG podcasts.
-Sherman Arnowitz and his book, "The Art of Investing."
-Jimmy Napier and his book, "Investing in debt."
-Scott Carson and all his great videos at We Close Notes
-The Note MBA Podcast.
Thank you all.
