I was conflicted because his webinars and videos were the exact thing that got me excited about pursuing real estate. Now my brain has trained itself that “if you hear Brandon’s voice, get ready for some knowledge!”. This is not to say everyone else isn’t just as good, but he was the first to pull me in. The conflicted feelings came in because the point of all of this is to have freedom to spent time doing whatever you want, which is exactly what he’s doing, so it’s also inspiring and I’m glad he is doing it.

Thanks Brandon!

Thanks @Nick Peters! This is super helpful. I've already gone through a bunch of those but when I think I've done it all, there's always something else. This is why Bigger Pockets is an incredible resource.

We should connect to have each other in our local real estate investing networks.

Nice to meet you Kristen. Yes we definitely should! I love that there are so many different avenues to real estate and if only this area was cheaper I'd be easier haha.

thanks for the introduction on yourself and it looks like you have a solid plan in the next few years to get started in real estate investing. How has the agency part been in New York? How would it be if you got your feet wet in selling/buying houses?

Also which brokerage are you a part of over there? I've personally never done rentals, and only primarily work on helping others sell or buy real estate and I work with real estate investors out here in Chicago.

 Thanks Eudith,

I was working as part of a team with another agent since the rental market in NY moves FAAST! Brokerage was BOND NY. I feel like selling/buying is still a foreign language to me, at least on the agent side of things, and I'd like to make sure I know as much as I can to better assist clients etc. In other words, I don't know as much on that side of things.

The agent I was working with has since moved to compass and he is considering having me join his team again, but we'll see how all of that goes, especially since I'm in another state. How is it in the Chicago market? I'm assuming just as busy as New York.

Hey Everyone!

I'm Jared. I'm 31 years old (from the time of this post) and just wanted to introduce myself here and make some connections. Quick about me: I'm a musician, singer-songwriter living in East Brunswick, New Jersey. I've worked and managed restaurants in NYC where I lived for 5 years and starting working as a Real Estate Agent focusing primarily on rentals for a year before RONA ruined everything. I'm still licensed as an agent in NYC but that has slowed down since I'm currently living with my parents to save up money to get a place with my boyfriend and potentially house hack. New Jersey doesn't have reciprocity with New York so I'd had to take courses all over again just to register as an agent in New Jersey, so I figured I'd just make some meaningful connections/friendships to avoid that long process.

I'm currently working as a Director for my family's daycare center to get things in order so the business could run itself, but that will take a little time. I've always been interested in real estate but after finding Bigger Pockets and Brandon Turner's webinars I've been legit hooked. I feel like I even know more than I did actively working as an agent... I've been all over the place and having the hardest time honing in on what market/niche I want to focus on, especially since I don't have anything saved really for any sort of downpayment. I've been using any money I save to payoff any credit cards and debts I carry that have interests, student loans are another subject...

My goal with real estate is to get my feet wet with a single family or duplex to rent out and then stack after I've gotten over the first hurdle. If I can't find investors for the first deal, I'm considering pulling in a family member to flip a home or two so I have some cash to put toward a downpayment toward that first rental property. I was initially focused on the central/north jersey market, but I'm still taking the time to hone it all in.

I'm loving Bigger Pockets thus far and I'm interested in meeting anyone and everyone at this point!

P.S. If you've made it this far, congratulations! You might as well say hey.
