Not a big fan of Mint because

1. Bank connections break often.

2. You have to categorize everything and it takes time managing incoming uncategorized transactions. Spending alerts are targeted to each category so you get a bunch of them which desensitizes them to me.

3. Free but zero customer service.

I liked that SpendingAlert is simple.

Set 1 monthly spending limit and recieve alerts by text. No need for fancy pie charts and tons of emails selling me other financial services.

2.99 per month is not much and there is a cost to anything even if it is free. Reconnecting the bank accounts is a pain.
